26 Mar An Illustrator in the Lake District

I love drawing, making and being creative. I’m an illustrator based in Cumbria. I moved to the Lakes District, in 2018 and it was one of the best decisions of my adult life. I’m so happy and inspired living here. I get to swim dunk in ice cold water and walk the fells. I don’t always make the most of it though, so sometimes I have to give myself an extra nudge. I live at the top of a steep cobbled hill which means I’m rewarded by a beautiful view across Kendal which I never want to take for granted. It’s a pretty great place to bring up kids too. For example just before bed last night my boys spotted bats hunting for insects by our window.
On our doorstep I’ve a constant source of inspiration for illustration and painting and I’ve been very fortunate to work on some inspiring commissions and businesses. Here are a few of my favourite local spot inspired images – Gurnal Dubs swim spot, Scout Scar and the Windermere Jetty Museum.

A mixed media art print inspired by Scout Scar – my favourite local spot to walk straight from my front door. I have these for sale as prints and greeting cards just follow the link to my Maia Media shop
