26 Mar Freelance Illustrator in the Lake District

I’m a freelance Illustrator in the Lake District. I love to be creative. I moved to Cumbria in 2018 and it was one of the best decisions of my adult life. I’m so happy and inspired living here. I get to swim in mountain tarns and walk the fells. I live at the top of a steep cobbled hill which means I’m rewarded by a beautiful view across Kendal. It’s a pretty great place to bring up kids too. Just before bed last night my boys spotted bats hunting for insects by our window. Come May we’ll get to watch the Swifts dancing across the skies as they raise their chicks in the eaves of our home.

On the doorstep I’ve a constant source of inspiration for my artwork, illustration and painting. I create illustrations for children’s books, editorial, commercial business and personal commissions. So one day I might be in my studio working on a family portrait and the next I’ll be out in the national park sketching from real life for children’s picture book inspiration. I like working with local clients as it means I get to collaborate face-to-face but I also work across the UK and internationally.

As a freelance Illustrator in the Lake District I work on children’s books, editorial, commercial business and personal commissions. I’m fortunate to have worked with some inspiring local businesses and families alongside working on my own passion projects. You can read a little more about my approach here.
